This company is advertising plus-size shorts in the most ridiculous way

Come on now.

THIS IS HOW fashion app Wish is advertising a pair of plus-size shorts.

Instead of hiring a plus-size model to wear them, they had a thin model jump into one leg and wear the shorts as a skirt. No, seriously.

Though the shorts are being sold through Wish, the brand that made the garment is not listed.

It’s a completely impractical way to show how something should fit on a person’s body – and as Jess Goodwin of HelloGiggles writes, “incredibly cruel”:

This is like the advertising equivalent of that one friend from high school who never passes up the chance to remind you of how much skinnier than you she is… [The image] communicates the taunting message that having a bigger body is a negative thing.

The listing has received criticism from across the plus-size fashion community, with designer Christina Ashman posting a rebuttal photo wearing a size small skirt on just one leg.

Her photo highlights the massive holes in the brand’s logic:

If plus-size ladies buy shorts based on how one leg looks on a whole petite woman, maybe smaller ladies will buy skirts based on how the whole thing looks on one pretty thunderous thigh.
